Services

BATS

We are bat survey specialists, equipped to undertake almost all types of bat survey and licensing. This including tree climbing, confined space work and BMCL site registration.

Our approach is focused on making the process as streamlined and stress-free as possible, with clear advice provided at each stage.

We keep costs down and focus on good outcomes for the project and the bats. Whilst some surveys are seasonally constrained, it is always worth contacting us early in your project to identify the best way forward.

HABITAT SURVEY

Whether you're asked for a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Phase 1 Habitat Survey, UK Habitat Classification Survey or Ecological Impact Assessment we have you covered.  If this leads to Phase II Botanical or Hedgerow Survey that is no problem either.

Our extensive experience of habitat survey has been gained across schemes ranging from single dwelling re-developments through to flood defence and new rail infrastructure.

Initial habitat surveys can typically be undertaken at any time of year. We are always happy to provide advice so why not give us a ring?

BIRDS

We are experienced ornithologists, able to undertake all types of bird survey including Breeding Bird Survey, Wintering Bird Survey and Vantage Point surveys, both in the UK and abroad.

We are licensed to undertake barn owl survey and can provide ecologists for pre-development nesting bird checks.

The consultancy has undertaken specialist bird surveys for Natural England over many years. We have carried out the Humberhead Peatlands Annual Nightjar Survey for the last 17 years.

We are pragmatic and cost efficiency is at the core of our ethos.

OTHER PROTECTED SPECIES

A range of protected species are found regularly within our local area and we are frequently called upon to undertake targeted surveys for species including badger, great crested newt and reptile species.

We will work with you to develop mitigation schemes for these animals, should they occur on your site. If your scheme requires a licence from Natural England then we can write a licence application and provide you with the required Named Ecologist.

Each species has its own survey period but the simplest thing to do is get in contact and we can provide advice tailored to your site.

MANAGEMENT PLANS

You might be asked for an Ecological Design Strategy,  Landscape and Ecological Management Plan or a Constraint and Opportunities Plan.

We can review your existing reports and work with you to identify  mitigation and enhancement measures appropriate to the site.

When the management aims have been agreed, we will develop appropriate management interventions and where necessary prescribe monitoring surveys.

Making use of GIS we can produce high quality plans for submission to the Local Planning Authority or presentation at consultation events.

ECOLOGICAL CLERK OF WORKS

We can provide an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to help deliver your development project.

Whether carrying out hand searches,  setting up exclusion zones, undertaking nesting bird checks or overseeing tree clearance. Our ecologists are practical and have the  experience to work effectively with your site team to get the job done.

We consider ECoW to be a responsible role and we will not send inexperienced staff to your job.

In addition to taking on ECoW work directly we also provide sub-contract services for multi-disciplinary consultancies.
